Pictures print darker than on computer screen

I have a new OfficeJet Pro 8715.  HP ink supply is okay.  Tests are good. 

When I print a .jpg picture the colors are noticably darker on the print than what I see on the screen using the Windows printing setup.  Same problem if I print as a .psd through Photoshop and let Photoshop manage colors rather than the printer.  It makes no difference if I use plain paper or premium glossy photo paper.

I'm pretty sure that I had the same problem on my previous printer, an OfficeJet Pro L7650.

I suspect that the problem doesn't lie with the printer, rather with what my computer is telling the printer to do.  Any suggestions?

Hi,

Unless you have a $,$$$ screen and a $,$$$ monitor for professional users, you won't be able to get a match of colors from printer and monitor.

All you have to do: use software to lighten or darken (if required) photos before print. The HP Photo Creations software allows you to correct this.

Hi Greg.

For basic photos (which we call Quick Prints in HP Photo Creations), you can open the brightness control by clicking the photo and then clicking the Brightness and Contrast button on the toolbar.

For photos in collage projects (like cards and calendars), click the photo, then click Options.

The Premium button opens additional controls, such as hue, saturation, and an automatic balance checkbox that adjusts brightness and contrast simultaneously. (The Premium Editing Features are an optional upgrade.)
