After spending hours because the printer went offline (for no apparent reason) and downloading new software and uninstalling and reinstalling the printer twice, the printer is now working. However, I went to scan and realized the Printer Assistant is gone. It doesn't show up as one of the choices on the printer, it's not in my list of programs and the Desktop icon is gone. Would appreciate any help as I'm pretty frustrated and worried that I will lose the printer again. Thanks

Alright, the next thing to do would be to uninstall all software related to your printer from the PC. Once done, download and install the latest drivers by clicking on this link.
Please let me know if this resolves your issue.

Hey @RitaM1,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see that you are having issues with scanning from your Windows 10 PC to your Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer. I can help you with that.
To scan, click on the Officejet 4630 icon on your printer. Inside, select the option with Scan in its name to open HP Scan.
Please let me know the results after following the above. If you can scan, please click on Accept Solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. Both icons are below this post.

I assume you meant the icon on the computer which took me to HP Scan and Capture. I was able to do a scan (as I am by pushing the scan button on the computer). However, without Printer Assistant, I don't have the flexibility of what type of documents and all the other features that I've gotten used to. Your note got me partway there for which I'm appreciative but I still need to get the HP Printer Assistant.

On your desktop you should see an icon with a name similar to Officejet 4630. Click on that icon.

Nothing happens when I click on the link; it just comes back to the page where you said " click on this link". Anyway, I'm very reluctant to uninstall the printer again since I can print and I have basic scan capability and I don't want to lose that. I will mark the solution as acceptable and give you a thumbs up if I can find the icons to do that (they are not at the bottom of the page where they should be). Thanks for your help!

I deleted everything germain to HP printer in the control panel. Then I went to the page for my printer on the HP support site. I downloaded the software for my printer and after it installed I clicked on the shortcut and behold - Printer Assistant came up!
Up to this point I had been using the DVD supplied with the printer and it never worked.
I would advise everyone who has an HP printer to find that printer on the HP support site and download the software for installing it.
