My LaserJet 100 Color M175nw crashes during initialization before it’s ready, and sometimes when I try to print a document on the first print job. To get it working, I have to unplug the power cord, wait a few minutes, and then plug it back in to restart the printer.
I initially used the printer over Wi-Fi, but the issue persists even after switching to a USB connection.
I’ve tried using it with Windows, macOS, and Wi-Fi Direct, but the problem still continues.
I’ve gone through every troubleshooting step, including resetting the settings to factory defaults and resetting both the Wi-Fi and network settings.
I’ve also updated the firmware to the latest version, but the issue remains unresolved.

Hi @leo5314,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your LaserJet 100 Color M175nw is experiencing hardware or internal software issues that are beyond the typical connectivity or configuration problems. Here's a systematic approach to try and resolve this issue.
Check Power Supply
- Ensure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a power strip or surge protector. Inconsistent power delivery can cause crashes.
- Try a different wall outlet to rule out issues with the current power source.
Clean the Printer Internally
- Dust or debris inside the printer can sometimes interfere with the internal components.
- Turn off the printer, unplug it, and gently clean the inside with compressed air.
Test Without Accessories
- Remove any extra trays or accessories connected to the printer and test again.
Run Internal Diagnostics
- Many LaserJet printers have a built-in diagnostics menu or test mode.
- Check the user manual or support documents for steps to run these tests and check for any error codes.
Reflash the Firmware
- Even though you've already updated the firmware, reflashing it can sometimes resolve persistent issues.
- Download the latest firmware from the HP website and reinstall it carefully using a USB connection.
Adjust Print Settings
- Sometimes large or complex print jobs can cause older printers to crash.
- Reduce the print quality settings or change to grayscale mode and try printing again.

Perform a Cold Reset
- A cold reset goes deeper than a factory reset and restores the printer to its out-of-the-box state, including clearing NVRAM.
- To perform this:
- Turn off the printer.
- Turn it back on while holding down the X (cancel) button and the OK button until the reset process begins.
- Refer to the manual for precise instructions if this method doesn’t work for your model.
Inspect the Formatter Board
- If the issue persists, it could be a problem with the formatter board, which controls the printer's operations.
- Look for any visible damage on the formatter board or loose connections.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

First of all, I sincerely appreciate your support and detailed explanation.
1. I attempted a cold reset, but the key combination (X + OK) did not work for my printer. Instead, it entered some sort of DIMM mode—I don't recall the exact message.
I cleaned the printer after removing all the toners and the drum, but the issue persisted.
I then opened the printer from the left side, disconnected the power cables from the formatter board and power supply, and cleaned them thoroughly, but this did not resolve the problem.
Finally, after reflashing the printer with the same firmware for the third time, it started working properly. Now, the printer is functioning fine.
Once again, thank you for your support.
Best regards.
