Officejet Pro 8720

The printer lights and control panel will randomly begin to flash. The printer cannot be accessed over the newtork and print jobs are not received. The problem requires that the power button be pressed and the printer then restarts immediately and goes through the start-up process. The problem initially began about 1 year ago and would happen once every couple of weeks/months. It then started happening daily and now it happens several (up to 8-10 times) daily.

Hi. I have the same problem with my officejet 6500. I have yet to figure out why but it seems to have started after i installed aftermarket non hp cartridges. This is a spare printer for me so i havent looked further into it but i''d be interested to know if you installed aftermarket cartridges too or if you're using hp cartridges.

I subscribe to HP instant ink program and have used only HP cartridges since day one. Thanks for the reply.

Interesting. So i guess thats not my printers problem. The only other change i made at home was a new wifi router from my internet service provider. It has band steering which provides both 2.4 and 5 ghz networks simultaneously under one ssid and password.

In theory it provides the best signal to compatible devices.but i suspect perhaps my printer is freaking out because of it. My printer only supports 2.4 ghz.. Thats the only other change i've made. Have you made a similar change at home?
