My officejet pro 7740 aio freezes whenever I try to print more than 4 copies of a word document. The printer connected to a wired network. I have tried diffrent computers with diffrent editions of MS office. And I continue to get the same issue. The word document is only text and tables; nothing fancy.  I have updated the firmware to April 2017.  

 

Should I RMA this or is there a firmware update in the works?

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post. 

 

I understand that you are facing slow printing issue with your printer even after updating the firmware on your printer. 

Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you. 

Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own.

Have you installed the full feature software for your printer on the computers?

Do you face the slow printing issue while making copies as well?

 

Recommend you refer to this HP Article, check the print settings, reinstall the printer software (full feature software of the printer is recommended.).

If the issue persists, please contact our phone support for the service options available.

I went through and reinstalled the drivers. The problems stated have persisted.  In addition, if we copy from the glass, it generally will work.  If we print multiple copies of a document from the computer, the printer hangs after a couple successful prints. When it hangs we can only shut it off by unplugging it. When we try to shut it down by the power button, the screen will say shutting down, and the pinwheel spins.

We let run for 20 minutes and it still hasn't shut down.  We have 8.5 x 11" paper in tray 1 and 8.5 x 14" in tray 2. We have had multiple papers since the last post.  

 

Any further advice or RMA it?
