I can't get virtual help because it says my printer serial number is invalid. I know I put it in correctly.

I can't get any other help because the number online for HP Support goes on about Medicare devices then hangs up.

My problem is prints get stuck in the queue and then print out later. I think I need to reinstall the drivers again but I barely did it the first time without making things worse.

EDIT: I tried to change the subject from HP Insta Ink but it wouldn't change.

Hi @RhyanS,

Thanks so much for the update, and I really appreciate the detailed breakdown, it helps a lot in narrowing this down! 😊

Based on what you’ve described, especially the “Copy 1” appearing, phantom print jobs, and the Windows Protected Print Mode, here’s what I recommend next:

Fully Remove All Instances of the Printer

Sometimes, remnants of the old installation stay behind and cause conflicts.

Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers

Right-click every instance of HP DeskJet 2700 or Copy 1, and select Remove Device

Repeat until no instances remain

Clear Stuck Print Jobs (Even Invisible Ones)

Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter

Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click, and select Stop

Now go to: C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
(You’ll need admin permission – click “Continue” if prompted)

Delete everything in that folder

Go back to services.msc, right-click Print Spooler again, and Start

Reinstall Printer Drivers (Fresh Start)

Go to: HP DeskJet 2700 Series Driver Page

Download the full driver package (not just the basic one)

Run the installer and follow the steps

Make sure only one version of the printer appears after install

Set the Printer as Default & Test

Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners

Click the HP DeskJet 2700 (not the Copy 1 if both still exist)

Select Manage > Set as Default

Print a test page from Printer Properties > General > Print Test Page

I hope this helps.

I did all of that, but it's not printing at all.

If this sheds light on the problem, here's what's happening.

I tried to turn on Windows protected print mode, then it said there is something in the print queue, but when I look at the queue in settings, there's nothing there.

There is also now a (Copy 1) after my printer name. It may be because the original printer was, in a way, never removed, though I clicked remove.

This did it!

For reinstalling the drivers, I added the printer to HP Smart and then ran diagnostics to update the drivers.

Thank you!
