Hi @Clairerose

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Printer Busy" message on your HP Envy 6000 series printer can be caused by a variety of issues, ranging from network communication problems to print queue issues. Since you’ve already tried resetting and checking for paper jams, here are additional troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue.

1. Clear the Print Queue

  • One of the most common reasons for the "Printer Busy" message is a stuck print job in the print queue.
  • Clear the print queue by following these steps:
    • Windows:
      1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
      2. Right-click on your HP Envy 6000 printer and select See what's printing.
      3. If there are any stuck or pending print jobs, cancel them by selecting Cancel All Documents from the menu.
    • Mac:
      1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
      2. Select your HP Envy 6000 printer.
      3. Click Open Print Queue and cancel any pending jobs.

After clearing the queue, restart your printer and try printing again.

2. Power Cycle the Printer and Computer

  • Power cycle both the printer and the computer (or device you are printing from) to clear any temporary glitches:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Restart your computer or device.
    • After about 2-3 minutes, plug the printer back in and turn it on. This helps reset any internal processes.

3. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

  • Even if you’ve already checked for paper jams, it’s worth a second look.
  • Open all accessible panels and remove any paper or debris from the printer, including any small pieces of paper that may have gotten stuck.
  • Inspect the paper path carefully to ensure there are no obstructions that could cause the printer to be "busy."

4. Update Printer Drivers and Software

Sometimes, outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause communication issues:

  • Update the printer driver by going to the HP support website for your specific printer model and downloading the latest driver version.
  • Alternatively, use the HP Smart app to check for software updates and install them.
  • Reinstall the printer drivers: Uninstall the current drivers and then reinstall them, following the instructions on the HP support site or using the HP Smart app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
