HP OfficeJet Pro 8210 Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Recently I started seeing an issue printing to my OfficeJet Pro 8210 from my Windows 11 Pro PC.  This printer is directly connected to my router and is left on all the time.  Today I tried to print a document and Widows immediately said that the printer was offline but the printer was on with no messages shown.  I fired up HPSmart and it could connect to the printer, show my ink levels and said that the connection status was active but regardless of what I tried, my document would not print.  Each time that this has happened, restarting the printer is my work around as I can then print but this shouldn't be happening.  Can anyone provide a solution?

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8210 is intermittently losing connectivity with your Windows 11 PC, despite being visible and active in HP Smart. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

  • Under the Ports tab, verify that the correct port is selected (usually IP_ or WSD).
  • Ensure that the printer status is set to Online. Right-click on the printer in Printers & Scanners, and select See what's printing.
  • In the queue, ensure that Use Printer Offline is unchecked.

2. Restart Devices

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Power cycle your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and wait for it to fully restart.

  • Configure the printer with a static IP address to avoid IP conflicts.
  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click on your printer and select Manage > Printer properties.
  • Update the IP address if necessary under the Ports tab.

5. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

So far I've verified that all of the printers settings and properties are correct within Control Panel and I've disconnected and restarted the printer after it was disconnected and offline for several hours.  I've checked for firmware and driver updates but everything says that what's  currently installed is correct so I'm going to see if the disconnect/restart does the trick and will follow up  with results in a while so that we can close this posting
