HP Smart Tank 5102

My first job on my new printer.  It is an HP smart tank 5102 and prints just fine.  The problem is it won't stop printing the same job over and over.  I had to deprive it of paper to get it to stop and then shut it off.  When I power up again it wants to continue the reprinting.  Suggestions?  Thanks

Hi @kerryhunt,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a printing issue with your HP Smart Tank 5102 where it keeps reprinting the same job repeatedly even after you've stopped it. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this problem.

Cancel the Print Job:

  • On your computer, open the print queue or print spooler.
  • Find the print job that's causing the issue and cancel it.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a minute or two, then plug it back in and power it on.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Visit the HP website to download and install any available updates.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Smart Tank 5102. If so, update the printer's firmware following the manufacturer's instructions.

Clear the Printer Queue:

  • Access the printer's settings menu through the control panel or HP Smart app on your computer.
  • Find and clear the print queue.

Check for Print Jobs on Other Devices:

  • Ensure that there are no print jobs pending on other devices connected to the same printer. Sometimes, a print job sent from a different device can cause a loop.

Factory Reset (if necessary):

  • If the issue persists, you may need to perform a factory reset on your printer. This will erase all settings and return it to its default configuration. Refer to the printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

Remember to backup any important settings or data on your printer before performing a factory reset, as it will erase all customized configurations.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
