Printer  refuses to print despite Print and Scan Doctor saying it's fine.  Document shows up very briefly in the print queue and then dissapears.  Printer has been reinstalled from the install disc and the old version of the printer deleted.  It's connected wirelessly.

The PC can read information from the printer and print out a diagnostic sheet, so mechanically it seems fine.

Grateful for any suggestions please.

Many thanks.

Hello @Moonfire24,

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that the print job goes in the queue and then disappears. Thanks for providing the additional information. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

I would suggest checking the security settings in the print driver.

  • From Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties. Then click on the Security tab.
  • Select 'Creator-owner' and check 'All' to permit 'Print' and ' Administer Documents'. There is also an option for Everyone if you decide to select that one also. Depending if you have User accounts setup on the computer.

If you are still having issues, clear the Spool folder and restart the Print Spooler, to see if that will help: How to Clear Current Print Queue In Windows Vista & Windows 7.

Have managed to resolve the problem. Although I had done so yesterday to no avail, I again unplugged the printer and shut down the PC. I then left them both off for a few minutes and then powered everything back up again. This time when I tried to print, the print queue showed the item I'd tried to print but the printer still refused to print. I then ran the Print and Scan Doctor again and this time it found and fixed the problem and the printer now prints.

Thanks Gemini02. Having thought I'd resolved the problem via Print and Scan Doctor the problem arose again. I followed your instructions and cleared the Spool folder and restarted the Print Spooler and all seems OK again. Thanks very much.

Sorry, it seems I spoke to soon. It did resolve the problem but only briefly. As soon as the print job gets to the printer it deletes it. I've followed all the steps you suggested but all to no avail. Print and Scan Doctor says everything checks out OK but when I ask it to print a test page nothing prints. Do you have any other suggestions you can offer please?

Additional note in case it helps: Having shut down the PC and the Printer for a couple of hours I tried again and it printed - but only once. Having done so it went back to instantly deleting anything from the print queue that I tried to print. Grateful for any help please as I have things I need to print out. Many thanks.

Hi @Moonfire24, I was scanning for cases and came across yours. I am not sure why I wasn't notified. Did you ever get the printer working properly?

If you are still having issues, please try bypassing the spooler to see if you can print directly to the printer.

1. Click on Start and go to Devices and Printers.
2. Right click on  the printer and click on Printer Properties.
3. Choose the option "Print directly to the printer".
4. Click apply and then OK.

Let me know. Thanks!
