When I use my laptop in the morning my printer screen is blank the power button is illuminated and the little blue light is on telling me that the printer is wirelessly connected to the internet. I can look at the printer in my system preferences and is shows it is "Idle default"
Most times, at this point, when I send a document to print and open the print queue it shows "Serching for Printer". That can take minutes or hours and generally I have to wait or shut down my computor and switch off the printer and start every thing up again to get the printer going.
It seems that solves the problem but going away for a couple of hours and trying to print again I have to go through the same procedure to get the printer to print.
Help Please

I'm glad it's working now.
If the issue persists, try assigning a manual IP Address
1) Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address or print a Network configuration Page
2) Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
3) Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
4) Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
5) Click Manual IP
6) If you see a Suggest a Manual IP Address button, click Manual IP address, and the Manual IP addresses are automatically filled out for you.
7) If your page does not have a button to suggest a manual IP address, type the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway using the numbers shown in the report you printed.
Thank you 😀

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.
I understand that your printer takes a very long time to print and sometimes it wont even respond
I'll try my best to help
I suggest we start with a Printer Reset
(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed
Then Remove and Re-Add the Printer to the Mac Printing Queue and use Airprint
-
Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
Figure : Example of the Printers & Scanners window
-
Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, and then do one of the following steps.
-
If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm it is set up for AirPrint. Click the printer name, click the minus sign
to delete the printer, click the plus sign
, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name and then continue to the next step.
-
If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, and then continue to the next step.
-
-
Confirm AirPrint or Secure AirPrint displays in the Use or Print Using menu, and then click Add.
Figure : AirPrint displays in the Use menu
-
Open a document or photo, click File, and then click Print.
If you have a Windows PC, you can also download the Firmware from this Link: https://hp.care/2y8SgWX

Hello KrazyToad
I have created a document and it printed within a few seconds. I consider this a success. I cannot tell you how grateful I am that my printer now is working properly. Am I able to contact you again if I have similar trouble in the next couple of days?
Thanks for your help

Hello Crazy toad
Printer has worked fine until the last few days. It has now gone back to the original problem and will not respond when a print request has been sent. It shows "looking for Printer" I did get it to work by shutting the laptop and printer off then switching on the printer and then the laptop in that order I did this last night but this morning the printer did not respond again.

Thanks for keeping me posted
Have you updated the Firmware as instructed before? If the issue persists, we can try a Semi-Full Reset
Since these are crucial steps, I will send you the instructions in a private message.
Please check your private message icon in the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile.
Next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope
Thank you 😊

Good moring Krazy Toad
Thanks again for your help
I followed your instructions and had a hell of a job getting the printer to work afterwards. I am not sure just how it happend but by switching everything of included my router and trying all sorts of combinations it did print. When I did the reset I had an instruction to register the printer but that went into error mode. Any way I got the printer to print late last night. I have not tried it this morning yet. I will keep in touch later today when I have some more printing to do.
I do appreciate your help
