If your HP printer sounds like it's printing but the page comes out blank, here are some common causes and troubleshooting steps you can try:
Common Causes & Fixes
- Low or Empty Ink/Toner Cartridges
- Check ink or toner levels via the printer software or control panel.
- Replace any empty or low cartridges.
- Clogged Printhead (for inkjet printers)
- Run the printhead cleaning utility from your printer software.
- You may need to run it 2–3 times for stubborn clogs.
- Incorrect Paper Settings
- Make sure the paper type and size settings match what’s loaded in the tray.
- Make sure the paper type and size settings match what’s loaded in the tray.
- Driver or Software Issues
- Reinstall or update your printer drivers from the HP Support website.
- Try printing from a different application or device.
- Empty or Misaligned Cartridges
- Remove and reinstall the cartridges to ensure they’re seated properly.
- Check for protective tape on new cartridges that hasn’t been removed.
- Firmware Issues
- Check for firmware updates via the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel.

- Try a Test Page
- Print a test page directly from the printer’s control panel to rule out software issues.
