Using OfficeJet printer connected to laptop via ethernet. Recent upgrades to Windows 10 (version 1607) have resulted in printer error message "Printer scanner does not recognize paper size". No. 10 envelope selected on print menu from Word 2013. I got one print using "portrait" layout, but no more. Default from Word is "landscape" but neither choice works now.
I have downloaded most recent driver software and reinstalled printer several times, all to no avail.

Hello Chimney_83,
Solved the problem. I had 4x6 photo paper in the photo tray. I removed it and tried printing envelope again (w/envelope in main tray). Printer fed the envelope correctly and printed perfectly. I haven't found any reference to emptying the photo paper tray prior to printing envelopes. Having photo paper in the tray doesn't affect printing regular letter size documents. Maybe HP should add this note to user manuals.
Thanks for helping.

Greetings @gmb2,
Thanks for the post.
I see you are facing issue with our printer not responding correctly after installing the anniversary update. Kudos to you for reinstalling the latest driver meant for your printer and trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own. I will be glad to help.
Recommend you to update the firmware for your printer if it is not updated already.
Try to make a plain copy and let me know if the copy responds fine.
When you install the printer software, the default settings would be changed. If you want to use different settings, change the settings and set is the default. Click here for the printer manual
Let me know if this helped.

Thanks for the reply, glad to see that you resolved the issue. I missed asking you whether the envelope loaded in the correct tray and if you had selected the correct tray as the source.

Printer always says wrong size paper when printing #10 envelopes. It will print in the middle of a sheet of 8x10 but i put in an envelpe and it will not. Must be the detection problem. Even tryed laying the #10 on top of a sheet of 8x10....no go???

You must be sure to use the paper alignment guides. Move the guides toward the envelope until they touch it on either side. Then be sure the envelope is fully inserted towards the rear of the tray (direction of paper feed). Also, as I noted before, be sure there is nothing in the photo paper tray.
