Please can someone help.

I keep getting the above error messages.  I can turn off the power and then it will start and print one item, but when I try to print again I get one of the above error messages.   It states that the printer was not shut down correctly or there is an issue with the cartridges or system.

I have been run a cartridge clean, tried the HP App to find the error, removed and inserted the cartridges (both have plenty of ink left in them), and powered off/shutdown correctly and tried taking out the lead etc so I am not sure if there is anything else I can try.  The printer doesn't get heavy usage but is used regularly enough to not dry up as i am on the 50 pages a month HP Ink package.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as it is getting very frustrating!

Hi @ElainH

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the  "Printer Error" issue.

Try a power reset on the printer-

Reset the product

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  1. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  5. Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

follow step 2 onwards in the document - Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge

try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

And also, try single-cartridge mode

The printer you own can work in single-cartridge mode, wherein the printer will be able to print with one cartridge in the printer.which will help us identify if its a cartridge issue or a printhead issue

To try single-cartridge mode follow the below steps:

remove the black ink from the printer, leave the color in and try printing
then remove the color ink and, insert the black  in and try printing

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for the advice, however I have followed all of the steps but it still says improper shutdown and error 0x61000072.

Is there anything else to try please as the printer doesn't get heavy use and I was hoping it would last a bit longer.

As this is a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
