@Oreo40, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
I understand you're encountering a "Printer Failure" message immediately after installing new HP cartridges in your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610. Let's work together to resolve this issue.
Reset the Printer
A simple reset can often clear temporary errors:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall and then into the printer.
- Turn the printer on if it doesn’t power up automatically.
Check the Cartridges
- Ensure all cartridges are genuine HP and compatible with the OfficeJet Pro 8610. Which cartridges work with my HP printer? | HP® Support
- Remove and reinsert each cartridge firmly.
- Check for any protective tape that may not have been removed from the new cartridges.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the cartridges.
- Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
- Allow everything to dry for 5 minutes before reinserting the cartridges.
Update Printer Firmware
Outdated firmware can cause cartridge recognition issues.
- Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page and enter OfficeJet Pro 8610.
- Download and install the latest firmware for your printer.
I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.
Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
