I am so frustrated with this. I am getting an error status from my printer that is.
"Check your account" with the message "A problem has occured with your HP account and you will be unable to print very soon unless the issue resolved. This could be related to your billing cycle"
I have done the hard reset, frimware upgrade and everything else they suggest. This is NOT the issue! The issue is that they have messed up my account. You can read about it here, https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Errors-or-Lights-Stuck-Print-Jobs/HP-LaserJet-MFP-M140w-and-t...
There is no way to get through to anyone on customer services to help. There is no phone, no chat, no one to speak to! How do you get HP to resolve this. Worst customer service company I have ever interacted with.

Hi @scruffs.,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I’m really sorry for the frustration this has caused. The “Check your account” / billing cycle error on your HP LaserJet MFP M140we is not related to hardware or firmware, but rather to the HP+ / Instant Ink account connection. When the printer is enrolled in HP+ or Instant Ink, it requires a valid HP account and billing status to keep working with the supplied cartridges.
If the HP account is not synced correctly, or if there is a billing cycle issue with Instant Ink, the printer will display this error.
Even after firmware resets, the printer will not bypass account verification if it is still linked to HP+.
Sign in at HP Instant Ink: https://instantink.hpconnected.com
– Verify your payment method and subscription status.
– If the subscription has lapsed or billing failed, update your details or reactivate.
Use regular cartridges
– If you no longer wish to use Instant Ink/HP+, you’ll need to install standard retail HP cartridges (not Instant Ink ones). The printer will then work without requiring an active subscription.
Account Re-link
– In HP Smart, remove the printer → re-add it and sign in with your HP account to re-establish the link.
I hope this helps.
