Hi @Cazimodo,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your printer updates issue. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove the USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware

  • Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Gaya

The printer seems (I say this hoping not to jinx it!) to have corrected itself overnight, but I will keep an eye on it and if the message pops up again I will try this solution and let you know.

Thanks

Caz

Still having this issue.  Left it to hopefully resolve itself overnight and it still tries to download the update many times every hour and fails.  I've tried using HP Smart app and it fails as well.  I've deleted the printer completely and reinstalled on computer.  Still having the issue.  I do not want to factory reset the printer, as last time I did this it completely screwed up my Instant Ink cartridges and I had to go spend over $100 bucks to buy new ink (can't be without our printer for even a day).  Is there any way to just download this update directly and install?

I’m having the same issue. I’ve tried everything in the post string (except calling HP Support since that didn’t help others) and nothing works.  HP, please provide a fix for this, please. I work from home and need my printer on a daily basis.

Yesterday my printer started saying unable to download and Keeps popping up. I did nothing different and there were zero changes. I’ve tried all the things listed. When unplugging like it said it took a while to turn back on. But did go back on. But immediate started the downloading again. I’ve had ZERO troubles with my printer and have had it for a couple years. Advice?!
