The printer will only print half a page when I use HP glossy photo paper. Using any other paper (printing and copying) it prints a full page. This is really bad when I need to print a photo. I'm running MAC OS X latest driver, I tried an uninstall and reinstall. Typically I'm using Adobe Photoshop to print, I also tried Preview app and just print from Apple TextEdit and Microsoft Word, still whenever I use the glossy photo paper (Letter Size), it only prints half a page. It seems maybe it's a paper feed issue, or the printer AI is just not working recognizing and advancing the sheet? I don't know...I have looked at probably 50 other support issues for the same issue on these forums, none of them have helped my situation, maybe my printer is just broken!?! Any help would be appreciated...

Hi @mrgooge

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the printing issue.

To better assist you - Are you trying to print using AirPrint or HP Smart app? If you are trying to print from AirPrint, try printing using HP Smart app and vice-versa.

While you respond to that, try these steps to update your Mac. To update the software on your Mac, refer to this document for steps.

I'd also suggest updating the printer's firmware. Refer to this document for more information about updating the printer's firmware.

Also, try solution#3 from this document to clean the paper feed rollers.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for your response.

I tried setting up with drivers set at AirPrint and HP Smart app, neither resolved the issue.

My computer is at the latest available MAC OS (Catalina 10.15.1 release 19B88).

My OfficeJet 4630 is already updated with the latest firmware and software available.

I'll attempt to clean the paper feed rollers, and get back to you.

HI,

So I cleaned the printer rollers as described in the document, the end result is, I still only get a cropped image (now it prints 3/4 of the image)  when using HP photo glossy paper... if I do an extreme shift to the right in the Adobe Photoshop print dialog box, I can get the whole picture,  but, I need to reduce it to 60% of the original size in order to achieve this result. This seems like an alignment issue when the paper is initially fed into the printer from the paper tray!?! So is there anyway to feed (pre-load) the photo glossy paper on my HP 4630, perhaps getting the photo glossy paper into a fed position for the actual print?  OR do you have any other suggestions? Also, it's starting to be costly running these tests, I'm using most of my expensive HP photo glossy paper and just burning through my black ink (in fact, I just got an email from HP instant ink  that new ink is on the way). At this point maybe I should look into getting another printer just for photo prints...

@mrgooge

According to the printer specification, this printer does not support letter-size photo papers. Check under Paper-handling specifications - supported cards.

Refer to this document to know how to load Photo papers in the printer.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Can you please show me where it says it doesn't support 8.5x11 photo

@mrgooge

Kindly check under 'Paper-handling specifications' - supported cards. - Letter size is not mentioned, hence not supported.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Can you explain the difference between "Cards" and "photo glossy letter sized paper"?

@mrgooge

The photo paper is considered under 'cards' in the product specification as the thickness of a Photo glossy paper is more than a regular US letter-size sheet.

Photo papers are not considered as Plain papers.
