Ink Tank Wireless 415
macOS 10.14 Mojave

Hello! I have a problem with my HP Ink Tank Wireless 415. I am using my MacBook Air with Mojave 10.14.

Whenever I try to print a color page it prints it in Black/White. When the  printer dialog pops up and I click the "Black/White" option, it seems like it has been deactivated, however it ultimately doesn't care and prints the page in B/W.

It doesn't matter which program I print from: Word, Preview, Web Browser. It always does the same.

The selected preset is Standard, not the B/W one.

I have not been able to try it from Windows as I don't have a computer with that OS.

@jluis_castellon, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the printer is not printing in color from the Mac.

  • Try making a standalone color copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

  1. Open a document, photo, or webpage, click File > Print to open the Print window.

  2. Make sure your printer is selected, and then click Show Details if it displays to access the print settings available for your printer.

    Print dialog with details shown

  3. Make sure the black and white box is not checked.

Refer to this document for more info on resolving this issue - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

If the issue persists, reinstall the printer using the Airprint driver

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

Note: Select "Bonjour multifunction" under kind while installing.

Try printing.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

Thank you very much.

It was not a problem regarding firmware update, neither my Mac's software update.

Removing and then adding the printer from System Settings and choosing AirPlay (not Secure AirPlay) did the trick.
