Hi,

I have not used my Printer for quite some time and the Instant ink service had lapsed. I have today fired up the printer to print a report from  different laptop, but the printer has been remotely blocked by HP.

There is one months subscription owing for £7.99

I have cancelled the Instant ink service for the time being.

I need to get my printer unlocked ASAP - how do I go about this?

Hello @Nige1912,

Welcome to the HP support forums.

I understand that you can not print because of a situation with your Instant Ink account.

I would like to help.

Its not your printer that has been blocked but the Ink cartridges that are a part of the Instant Ink service.

Even with the service being cancelled the cartridges will not work.

They will work when the amount owing is received. (Within 24 hours. If they are still locked after 24 hours its time to call phone support.)

Since it is the Ink cartridges and not the printer that is locked, you can swap out the ink cartridges for regular store bought ink cartridges.

some things to remember/consider:

Both instant Ink cartridges need to be removed from the printer.

The Envy 4500 series printer can run on single cartridge mode.

If you don't need to print in color just buy and install a black cartridge.

Alternately if you are not going to be printing too much before renewing the service, buy a single color cartridge. It will create a composite black and allow you to "limp along" until the print job is complete.
