when we turn the printer on it says There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists call HP Support. We have turned printer on and off, unplugged, and plugged back in, Checked for jammed paper, took out ink and put back in, removed filter and put back in, unplugged from back of printer. Message continues to display every time.

Hi @ShelbyDick,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP printer is experiencing a persistent error related to the printer or ink system. Here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try.
Check Ink Cartridges:
- Make sure the ink cartridges are properly seated in their slots.
- Check for any protective tape or plastic that may still be on the cartridges.
- Ensure the cartridges are not expired or damaged.
Reset the Printer:
- Hard Reset: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- If you can access the printer settings or HP Smart app, check for any firmware updates that might resolve the issue.
Perform a Self-Test:
- Many HP printers have a self-test feature that can help diagnose problems. Refer to your printer's manual on how to perform this.
Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP website. This tool can help diagnose and fix common printer issues.
Check for Overheating:
- Make sure the printer is in a well-ventilated area and is not overheating.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
