That's the message I get, though the cartridges are genuine HP cartridges I receive though Instant Ink. I had replaced all the spent cartridges, but it still wouldn't print. Then I removed the magenta cartridge and tried another new one, just to see if replacing it would get the printer to work. It did not, and now I get this message over and over. 

 

If someone knows what to do here, I'd appreciate it. The printer is out of warranty, and I don't want to pay for phone support.

I understand you are getting a cartridge error.

Don't worry I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details: 

 

I suggest you do a Hard Reset

 

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

 NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Can I pleae get the rest of the instructions to clear the catridge to moved to another printer.

3. Error message (if any)

4. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred
• Examples: Upgrading your Operating System or installing a new software; or installing new hardware like a printer, modem, or router.
