Product: OfficeJet Pro 8710
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The printer will not print any color on black paper.  It simply shoots the black paper through without the print head even moving (you know by the sound the print head makes when it's printing).

Many printers don't know dark color papers, specially black. You can trick your printer using black backgound on your original.

 

Please try that, hope this helps.

I appreciate your workaround but was concerned about draining the black ink cartridge.  In the end, I went old school and simply used a silver marker on black paper.  I think this is an issue that HP (and other printer manufacturers) need to address in their software.  Thanks.
