I have an hp Officejet Pro 8620. Two years ago the printhead failed. We spent ages searching the internet for an answer. There was no support out there. We had just stocked up on the very expensive hp ink (we had the equivalent of the price for a new printer, which is not much ink) for the printer so we did not want to get rid of the printer. To have a new print head shipped to Vietnam was going to be as much as a new 8620 printer, so we bought a less expensive printer and took the printhead out of that.
Now two years later that print head has failed. And again we have very expensive hp ink we cannot use. We have scoured the forums and followed hp employee advice and there have been no solutions.
So this time we are going to buy a printer from another company. Unfortunately that leaves me with two printers whose printheads do not work and very expensive ink.
I think it is disgusting hp have not resolved this ongoing issue.

I am having the same issue posted above. Officejet Pro 8620 was working fine for a long time. I have been using non-HP printer cartridges for several months, but just encountered the error: "The printed appeared to be missing, not detected or incorrectly installed. Error Code 10xc19a0003"
I have tried everything I can think of: reboot, installed latest software from HP website , switched back to HP cartridges, took out printer head and ensured proper alignment."
Please help!

Hi @printheadaches,
I'd like to help!
You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.
There are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why its not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Jay_G24: thank you for your response.
I currently have HP cartridges in the printer, but I am still unable to address the "Missing or Failed Printhead" error message. I have tried everything that I have been able to think of to address this error message, but my printer is effectively dead now.
Is there anything I can do?
Thank you,

As this is a hardware issue, I’d recommend you contact HP Phone Support in your region regarding service options for your printer.
Follow the instructions below to reach them:
1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.
6)Fill the web-form and proceed further.
If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
Have a great day!
