I have no blue colour in my prints. So I have a) put in new cyan cartridge which did not solve the problem, and b) cleaned the printhead (cyan and magenta) which also didn't solve my problem. At that point the printhead went to the correct position. NOw it doesn't. I have turned the printer on and off - no luck. Last time this happened - no yellow print - changing the printhead solved the problem so I want to change the printhead. I am running windows 7 but am not quite sure whether it is 22 or 64 bit.

Hello, @rivergreen – Hope you are well!
Thank you for reaching out! I’d be glad to help you 🙂
I see that you are having print quality issues / alignment issues with the Officejet 8500 printer and the print head is not moving to the correct position. Please try the steps mentioned here to clean the print head manually: http://hp.care/2efwTtX
Alternatively, go through http://hp.care/2erIFkf to make sure you have performed all the steps.
If the issue persists, you may be required to replace the print head. Check solution 6 to know which print head is faulty.
Let me know how that goes. I’ll watch for your reply!
Cheers 🙂

Hi - thanks for the reply. I have the instruction manual and have done all the things you suggested, including manually cleaning the printhead. I have a new printhead but I can't change it because the printheads will not move to the left, despite pressing star for 3 seconds. I cannot find anything in the manual to tell me how to fix this.
When I cleaned the printhead the move to the left was working, or I could not have done it.

Hello, @rivergreen
Thanks for the update!
Try to move the print head manually using little force.
Also, try the steps listed here: HP Inkjet printers - Printhead errors
If the issue persists, then contact the Hp phone support for the service options.
HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
Let me know if that helps!
