HP ENVY 4527 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I have a HP printer HP381054 (HP ENVY 4520 Series).

I have uninstalled and reinstalled this printer at least 10 times with the same issue.

Once installed it will not print in colour via my HP Windows 11 laptop.

When I go into the "Printing Preferences" tab and click on the "Paper/Quality" tab the option to select Black & White or Colour isn't there although it was there before!

Hope that is enough information but let me know if anything else is needed.

Please help me as this black & white only option is driving me mad!

Thanks in anticipation

Warren

Common issue is failure of driver to detect color or Microsoft IPP driver being installed in error. Follow these instructions to test.

On your computer, go to control panel> right click on devices and printers and select open from the drop down menu. Next right click on the icon for your printer and select "printer properties" from the drop down menu. On the next window that opens, click on the advanced tab and see what driver is being used. If it says Microsoft IPP or some sort of CLASS driver. Delete and start over. If it appears you have an HP driver, then click on the device settings tab. Scroll down until you see an option titled "device type" and change to color.

Hi Repairatrooper,

Sorry for late reply and thanks for your offer of help.

Based on your information below I can follow all the steps until you get to "Scroll down until you see an option titled "device type" and change to color".

When you get to device type there isn't an option to change to colour.

Any other thoughts.

Thanks
