Hi
Need help with my printer.
I have been able to print on thicker papers, about 250 gr before but now it doesn't work anymore.
When i place my picture (digistamps, I'm coloring)  in word in the center it looks fine and all, but when its printing its alwys get at the bottom, at the top, or the half image is outside the paper. (this happens most of the times)
If I print on normal A4 paper, it's perfect, no problem at all.
Can the wheels been whorn out? I really dont know what to do.
Please help.

PS. Is this question is on the wrong palce, please move it.

/Annica

In answer to your question:

Yes, the rollers or other related parts may be showing signs of wear.

Whether this is true for your printer is not something that can be diagnosed remotely, of course.

After four years of operation, it is likely you are thoroughly familiar with your printer.

What to do?

NOTES:

  • The following may - or may not - provide the exact solution (assuming there is one).
  • Please feel free to expand your search for help by perusing the many documents in your printer's Website Support pages.

The printer may be in need of a good cleaning.

For example, the rollers that guide the paper into the "print zone" may be sticking.

Resource that provides instructions to clean / check the printer:

'Out of Paper' Displays and Printer Does Not Pick Paper

Although less likely than simple "dirt", the fault might lie with the paper.

Paper that is curled, too damp / dry, or otherwise compromised may have problems during the print process.

For example,

I have cleaned it several times, adjusted and used all other tools but like I wrote. If I print a “normal” paper, everything is fine.

But not if it’s thicker. I do admit I sometimes have forgot to change it on the display when I’m using thicker paper but I didint have problem until now.

So  I guess it’s time to buy a new one?

I really can’t figure out what to do to fix it.

If you are looking at another printer make sure to get one that loads from the top. (NOT A DESKJET)

Ok? Any recommendations?

I need a printer that can print at least 250gr paper.

HP Recommended

Take a look at the Pixma TS8050, up to 300 g/m for the rear tray.

Ouch! That's not an HP printer.

Regardless, lots of manufacturers do make excellent printers.  Smiling.

@QueenAlyssa

When you look for a new printer, open the sales webpage, select the printer category and look at printers that fit your immediate "wants" - for example, check the price and features.  Open a particular printer model page and check the "Specifications" which should include the maximum paper weights and types, plus the duty cycle (how many pages per month).

  • Most mid-range (price and features) printers support the photo paper weight you need (250 gsm).

and / or

  • Many mid-range (price and function) printers will print on 280 gsm photo paper, though the maximum weight for regular paper and cards is less.

Comments

Generally, a higher grade printer (regardless of brand) will provide better service, more options and features, and will support Wireless / Ethernet and mobile print options.  READ before you purchase.   Most online stores provide CHAT and / or a phone number you can call to ask questions.

@Dragon-Fur, I would be happy to recommend a HP printer but there no top feed models which meet this user's need.

Understood.
