I've previously asked this question before in this thread: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/Printing-preferences-error-message-protection-fault/m-...
The very final piece of advice posted on 10-16-2018 10:46 AM helped to sort out the issues I was experiencing.
However, this time, it's not helping.
I am getting the error message:
So I followed the instructions per the final advice on the previous thread linked above as per 10-16-2018 10:46 AM . This has not resolved the issue.
I now am receiving this additional message when I click to try and change my preferences:
I have lost the ability to be able to:
a) Print in colour
b) Do double-sided printing
This make and model of printer allows both of the above, but for some reason these options aren't available to me like they used to be. The options appear to be limited. These are now the BASIC options I have (which are different from what I had available to me before:
NO OPTION FOR COLOUR PRINTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHEN I SELECT 'PRINTER PROPERTIES' THIS HAPPENS...:
When I try to access the printer properties from a Word doc instead, this happens:
AND I GET NO OPTION FOR COLOUR PRINTING!
My options seem to have changed and don't look the same as before.
How do I get back my ability to select colour printing and double-sided printing (without having to hand-feed it manually...) and also get rid of this error message once and for all. Deleting everything and starting again has not worked. Something else must be disrupting things. HELP

I have gone through your Post and i would like to help
Since you have already tried the full feature software, I suggest you uninstall the printer driver from root level once again and then install the Windows Built-in driver
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and install the Windows built-in driver
