I keep receiving the message “Printing will be blocked soon” from my printer and I can’t figure out how to clear it. I’m not enrolled in the instant ink program nor am I interested in it. It happened soon after replacing one of the ink cartridges (HP ink from Walmart, not a knock off brand).
I bought the printer from a friend but registered it under my own hp account. I set up the printer on the network and registered it so I can send an email to hp and have it print (so I can print something from anywhere). That all works fine, but it doesn’t print until I clear the warning.
Previous posts refer to the instant ink program that I am not enrolled in.

I see. So the error appears because at least one of the ink cartridges is an instant ink cartridge that was used in the instant ink program (which has billing issues). To get rid of the error I should either replace the remaining cartridges too or sign up for instant ink. Sound about right?

Hi @Skiman2002
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
To better assist you - Have you replaced all the Instant Ink cartridges with the regular ink cartridges? If you haven't, I'd suggest you to do that.
If you have already installed the regular ink cartridges, I'd suggest try re-enabling the Web-Services -
Step 1 Remove the Web-Services -
1. From the top of the screen, touch or swipe down the tab to open the Dashboard, touch ( HP ePrint ), and then touch (Web Services Settings).
2. Touch Remove Web Services.
Reboot the devices.
Step 2 Enable the Web-Services -
1. From the top of the screen, touch or swipe down the tab to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ).
2. Touch Web Services Setup .
3. Touch Accept to accept the Web Services terms of use and enable Web Services.
4. On the screen that appears, touch OK to allow the printer to automatically check for product updates.
5. If the Printer Update Options screen is displayed, select one of the options.
6. When the printer is connected to the server, the printer prints an information page. Follow the instructions on the information page to finish the setup.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I’ve only replaced half of them so far (as the other ones haven’t run out yet).
So what actually causes the error? Having mixed cartridges in the printer? Or just having instant ink cartridges in a printer not signed up for instant ink? ...or both?

So, as you said this printer belonged to someone else and they had an Instant Ink account, looks like there was a billing issue and that's why you are getting the "You printer will be blocked soon" error. If the billing does not go through, the account will be suspended and the Instant Ink cartridges will not work at all.
Thanks!

That's correct! You may replace all the Instant Ink cartridges with the regular cartridges.
If you are trying to enroll the printer, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding this as this printer was enrolled with a different user's credentials.
Hope this helps.
Have a great day!
