Hello Folks!
I am having difficulty printing on light card stock and heavy paper (30 lb) on my HP DeskJet 3630. The image is supposed to be centered vertically and it is printed about 2.5 inches too high on the card stock or paper. When I use 20 lb. paper, it prints perfectly. I bought this printer because it said it would print on light card stock and I want to be able to make personalized cards for friends and family. I’ve already used up one set of ink cartridges trying to get this straightened out. Any ideas, please?

Hi @LeahMaria,
Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand you are having issues while printing from card stock on your HP DeskJet printer. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.
To fix this issue, you need to make sure that your printing preferences under the actual printer and the program you are using are set to "cardstock". Follow the steps below:
Go to Control panel – Devices and printers.
Right-click on Officejet 8740 and select “Printing preferences”.
Under the Paper/Quality tab, change your paper type to "Cardstock".
Make sure to select the correct paper size as well.
Now, come to the program that you are using to print the cardstock (MS Word, Wordpad e.tc.), and change the paper type to “Cardstock”.
NB: Load card stock in Tray 1 only. Card stock is not compatible for use with the ADF for single- or double-sided printing.
Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
Restart your computer.
Now click on this link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/dj3630/DJ3630__Full_WebPack_1107.exe and install the printer drivers.
Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

Hello Mr. Singh,
Thank you for your prompt reply to my request for help re printing on cardstock with my DeskJet 3630 printer. The 3630 printer driver does not have an option for using cardstock per se. I believe the heaviest choice of paper I would have with the 3630 is the HP Matte Brochure paper.
I’m a little puzzled by your suggestion that I “Go to Control panel – Devices and printers. Right-click on Officejet 8740 and select “Printing preferences”. Under the Paper/Quality tab, change your paper type to "Cardstock".” Does this mean I should download and install the driver for the 8740 printer?

Greetings @LeahMaria, I am the @Chimney_83. It looks like you were interacting with @Jeet_singh, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.
Thanks for the reply, it looks like there was a miscommunication with the printer model mentioned by Jeet_Singh.
Instead of Officejet 8740, you can do a right-click on your printer listed there and check.
If possible try a different application to print on cardstock.
Keep me posted.

Hello @ Chimney_83,
Thank you for answering. I have already tried printing from 4 different applications/programs that I use for graphics, and none of them give me an option to print on cardstock with the 3630 printer.
The only options given are:
Plain Paper
HP Photo Papers
HP Matte Brochure or Professional Paper
HP Matte Presentation Paper
HP Glossy Brochure or Professional Paper
Other Photo Inkjet Papers
Other Matte Inkjet Papers
Other Glossy Injet Papers
There is nothing there for cardstock unless one of the above choices is an equivalent for cardstock. Could you let me know if this is the case, please?

Hi @LeahMaria,
As I understand you are still having issues printing from card stock. After going through the Printer specifications found that this printer is compatible with plain and inkjet Hagaki from Japan Post only. It is not compatible with photo Hagaki from Japan Post.
This could be one of the reason why you are having issues printing from card stock. For more details, please go through this link: Printer Specifications for HP DeskJet 3630, 4720 Printers and go to Paper-handling specifications and look for Paper tray capacities and supported cards.
I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help.
You've been great to work with and it has been a genuine pleasure interacting with you.

Hello Mr. Singh,
I looked in the specifications that you suggested, and it says the printer should be able to handle 110 lb index maximum, a light weight card stock, but which may be too heavy for this particlar printer. Thank you very much for your help!

Hi @LeahMaria,
As mentioned earlier this printer might not support card stock as it might not be able to handle the weight. I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any further assistance.
Keep me posted!
