I'm trying to print photos on my HP Envy 5530 printer using high quality, but heavy weight, photo paper . When I select "Print" from the Printer Drop Down List after selecting "Photo Paper" from both the "Presets" and "Paper Type" drop down menus, the printer sucks the paper about 2 inches into the printer and then says it's printing.  The paper, however, never moved further and eventually the printer indicates that it is jammed.  I follow the directions to clear the jam, but nothing has been printed.  This has happened repeatedly with several attempots.

I have also used the printer utility to clean the paper feed with no change in my results.

This paper is 80 lb paper.  Is there a limit on how heavy the paper can be in this printer?  I have successfully printed with 59 lb paper, but I have 50 sheets of the heavier stuf that I'd like to use.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do?

Specifications > Paper Handling indicates that your 80lb paper is most likely too heavy for this printer.

"Most likely" is the fall-back in case you know your photo paper is made from other than "Bond" paper stock,   If you don't know what this means, assume the paper is too heavy for the reasons stated.

If you have some favorite photos that are worth the small expence, consider having them printed - a local print shop might be willing to use your paper as long as it meets their high standards and is compatible with their process.  Smaller shops are hard to find but there may be one still in business in your neighborhood.

This certainly explains why I had this problem.  I guess I’ll be buying some lighter paper.

thanks for your help.

You are welcome.

Consider HP Advanced Photo Paper

The paper is within the weight limitations, it is acid free, and Instant Dry.

Nice paper - I've used this one for years with good results.

Although your HP printer has been manufactured to like the HP paper (of course), other high-quality brands may also work.  Smiling.

Happy Printing!
