Hi guys,
I have an HP Deskjet 2540 All-in-one working with the 301 cartridges here in the UK. In my last trip to Peru, I decided to give the printer to my mother. The problem began as soon as she required a new ink cartridge. HP 301 ink cartridges aren't available in Peru. After a long investigation, I found this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-deskjet-1510-all-in-one-printer-series/5157551/model/5385180...
It was supposed that this information on that page was reliable. My mother went to a local store and asked for an HP122 Black XL, however, after the installation she got the error: Cartridge is not compatible and it couldn't detect the cartridge despite the fact it was original and one of the new version v1 cartridges.
Now the problem is that it is impossible to make it work the printer as the cartridges in Latin America seems to be not compatible with the printer. Do I have a solution? I tried to update the firmware, it wasn't necessary as the printer had the updated firmware, so it wasn't the problem.
I'd like a solution for that, otherwise what I read that HP printer can be still used after moving to a different country is not totally accurate: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c02558798#:~:text=Once%20you%20have%20a%20full,in%20your%20cur... 😒
I'd appreciate any help on this. Please.
Kind regards,
careduro

@careduro, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
The Ink cartridge information provided in the attached document by you is correct. You are supposed to use HP 122 ink cartridges in Peru. However, as the printer was bought in a different region, a region reset has to be performed before using the HP 122 ink cartridges in the printer.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
