Hi @Alithepal
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A question mark on the display screen of your HP Envy 5200 series printer usually indicates that there’s an issue with the printer's settings or its ability to communicate with your devices. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1. Check Printer Status
- Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
2. Ensure Network Connection
- Wi-Fi Connection: Make sure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPad and Mac.
- On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Network > Wireless Network Test Report to check the status.
- Re-establish Connection: If needed, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network using the Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer’s control panel.
3. Check for Paper and Ink Issues
- Paper Jams: Ensure there are no paper jams in the printer.
- Ink Levels: Check the ink levels to make sure they are sufficient for printing. Replace any low or empty cartridges.
4. Reset Printer Settings
- Restore Factory Defaults: On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults. This will reset any settings that may be causing issues.
5. Update Firmware
- Check for Updates: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can usually do this through the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel.
6. Reinstall the Printer on Devices
- Remove and Re-add Printer:
- On your iPad, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and make sure it’s connected to the right network. Then, go to the Print settings to see if the printer is listed. If not, try re-adding it.
- On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, remove the printer, and then add it back.
7. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and Run: If you have access to a Windows PC, download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. It can diagnose and fix common printing issues.
8. Check for Error Messages
- If the question mark persists, check for any additional error messages or prompts on the printer's screen that might give more insight into the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
