@TVM46

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help.

If you insert your old ink, does the Printer still flash?

Let's try to reset the Printer here:

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Also, try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.

Let me know if this helps.

If I use old black cartridge the lights do not flash but as the cartridge is I assume empty it will not print.

as I suggested I tried a restart on the printer but that makes no difference.

I think this is a case of a defective new ink.

You could either return/replace it to the store/website you purchased it from or contact the HP Support Team regarding this.

Thank you Betty0610 for your reply, however this is the second new cartridge I have loaded into the printer from a different supplier. I completed the ‘reset’ as you suggested but still the same fault appeared. I have now been without a printer for over a week and I am totally frustrated please help.

Oh, then it looks to be a hardware issue with the Printer. Again to contact the HP Team for this.

Do you need me to contact the HP team? As an HP employee I would have thought you were part of the HP team? Thanks for trying to help but after a week I think the only way to solve this is by purchasing a Cannon printer.
