Resend Upgrade Error

My HP LJ m281 has started showing an error "Resend upgrade".  I can get it to clear, but it reappears after 10 seconds.  I tried to resend the firmware update and it doesn't work.  Please help!  The printer won't print anything.

I have the same exact problem on my MFP M281FDW.  It is beyond annoying.  And if someone from HP suggests to unplug it and wait 45seconds, I will likely throw it out the window.

If you tried to apply firmware revision 20221010, there is an issue with it. It has been pulled and the firmware team is supposed to be looking into it. Best I can advise right now is to be patient, which I know sucks when you want to print something.

Any update on this error?  I have dl'd the firmware from 10/27 but it still does not remove the error from the device.  Any additional suggestions would be welcome!

I have exact the same problem on my HP Laserjet MFP m181fw since a few days.

Upgrading to the last firmware version 20220414 (27th of october) does not solve the problem.

Downgrading to an older firmware version (20200612) does not solve the problem.

Resetting does not solve the problem (Turn the printer OFF, press and hold left arrow (<-)  and cancel (X), turn printer ON, keep <- and X pressed until printer shows Permanent storage initialization message, that should reset the printer.)

How to solve this ?

very unfair that they caused the problem and now we are stuck with $500 printer in garbage mode

"Resend Update" message on my HP LaserJet Pro M281cdw (Costco purchased several years ago) started appearing a few days ago.  Printing, copy, scanning no longer working.  Tried the unplugging, restoring to factory setting tricks, on/off, updating firmware via touchscreen, HP Smart app diagnosis, reinitialization of every setting, internet researching and nothing has worked to remove the "Resend Update" message.  I am hoping someone can help me fix this issue as it is beyond my knowledge.   I saw a fix for a similar printer that called for "flashing the firmware" with an appropriate file and am hoping someone can post a similar fix for this printer.

Does this work on the M281 fdw? as it's not listed  on the linked instructions. I have been getting the resend upgrade error for days now after updating. I have literally tried every HP diagnostic, driver, firmware installer. I have manually reset to manufacture settings 3 times. Obviously the whole unplug for 30 sec (eyeroll), hell I even unplugged for over 10 minutes as a hail mary. I've tried wireless, USB. Typed the IP in and tried clicking the resend arrows. The closest it gets to programming with the firmware driver from HP, it will flash and I briefly see error and it restarts, and keeps doing that till it finally finishes (i think) and then right back to resend upgrade error.
