They are so worried about people using non-HP toner cartridges that they send out these firmware upgrades to prevent aftermarket cartridges from working. Well great job HP, you just bricked an untold number of printers. We all need to keep up with this thread, it has almost doubled in complaints about the same issue in the past few days. Don't let them fool you either, they're fully aware of the problem. Until some actual legal action is taken, they are going to ignore it. This is corporate greed and customer neglect at its finest. I've had HP printers for decades and this one may be my last. I have had two different HP techs remote into my computer and couldn't get the 'RESEND UPGRADE" message to clear. I'm currently using an MFP M180nw printer. The techs had the nerve to tell me my printer was out of warranty, couldn't be fixed and could they assist me in buying another HP printer. HP broke it and HP is going to have to fix it!! CASE ID # 5095015829 And by the way, their online warranty dispute page is not working. Big surprise, right?

Wonder if that solenoid is the culprit causing the jamming because firmware glitch keeps it powered/stuck, causing pressure on the rollers not letting them push the paper out contradicting double side printing. Still a software issue with solenoid controller from glitched firmware

All I know it kept the output rollers from turning and caused the jam. Those solenoids are a problem in all printers. Most of the time it is a feed issue. But this time it was a pain.

best fix should be provided by HP, no need for all this husky of disconnecting solenoids and messing normal printer functions

"I called 1-650-857-1501 and spoke to Tech support - was on the phone a couple of hours...I allowed them to access my computer remotely - It was a process but the error message went away .....then the paper jam started.  I though it was just me and then I read others had the same paper jam issue after the fix.  I needed to step away and told the tech as well.

She told me to keep the printer unplugged for 2 hours and then she would call me back to check on it. I was off work yesterday so I don't know if she called back --nothing on caller ID ---- so a lot of sweat and prayers but came in today and it PRINTS!!!!!   "

have you the firmware file in your computer???

I downloaded a "firmware update utility" dated 10-27-22 but it did not help.

I followed the advice above, called and they had me download something on a USB flashdrive and install on the printer, which fixed the issue after about two hours on the phone.  But then, also as above, it had a mysterious paper jam issue immediately even though there is no paper jam.  At that point they tech then said it must be a hardware issue and since I'm out of warranty nothing else they can do, I have to replace the printer.  Even though it clearly was NOT a hardware issue, I've never had a paper jam since I've bought this printer, and it all stemmed from this firmware upgrade.  I tried unplugging for over two hours but no luck, I'll try again overnight but not optimistic.  So frustrating HP.

Please provide a solution to this!

I want my printer back, I can work with USB Flashing if needed 🙂

I have had the exact same thing happen. Did you get this resolved or are you left with a printer that is good for nothing?
