Hey recently, today, I stupidly went on the site too. (123hp.us.) I allowed them access to my computer as well and now I'm super worried. I didn't give them any card info either.  Has anything happened since you've let them in?

I also broke a personal rule never to allow someone to remote into my computer. I was in a hurry and required the printer so I became a victim. I didn’t see any folders open or anything that looked like it was being downloaded. (Not that someone sofisticated couldn’t perform that function.

I froze all accounts to be safe. What a hassle.

I am hoping it was just a scam for $99 and nothing more.

It would be nice if HP could shed some light on how much concern we should have to our data.

Anyone who has posted please post if you see any suspicious activity so we can all protect ourselves. I like most here feel like an idiot. I consider myself above average in being cautious. Lessons learned.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

Please advise -- I fell victim to the same fake tech support scam that others have described here -- I went to the 123 address on the manual, and my computer directed me to a slightly different address without one of the periods. On that supposed HP website, a popup balloon appeared with a tech offering help. I was in a rush to get my printer installed, and now I am panicked because I allowed remote viewing and lots of time on my computer to scam artists. I am also out $99.99 (which might be the least of the problems.) I then wasted a day changing passwords, credit cards etc -- my IT guy did not see any malware installed, but I am worried because I don't know what damage was done or what else could happen. He also said that if I contest the charge the scammers might begin a campaign of harrassment against me -- he said he has seen that happen. I tried calling HP for advice, but could find no phone number or specific information on what to do. HP, you really need to protect your customers better. What advice can you offer me now?

This scam is still going on. I thought I was giving access to HP to help me connect wireless to my new printer.  Was told by "tech" of multiple problems with my computer's security.  When I refused to buy any addition protection was told they could not connect wireless without fixing these problems.  I have concerns that this "tech" still has access to my computer.  This does not reflect well to HP when I see from previous messages this SCAM is still going on.  I am considering returning my new HP printer and going with another company.  HP you need to stop this and advise people how to make sure their computers are safe after these "HP impersonators" have been allowed access.
