@Dpparker, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you are able to print from applications like Wordpad but encounter an error when printing from Chrome, it might be an issue specific to the browser. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Check Printer Connection:

  • Ensure your HP ENVY 5055 is correctly connected to your computer and is recognized by Windows 11.

Clear Chrome Cache:

  • Go to Chrome menu > More tools > Clear browsing data.
  • Select cached images and files and cookies and other site data.
  • Click on Clear data.

Update Chrome:

  • Ensure that your Chrome browser is up to date. Navigate to Chrome menu > Help > About Google Chrome and check for updates.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Make sure the printer is set as the default printer in Windows.
  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners > Ensure your printer is selected as default.

Reinstall Printer Driver:

Disable Extensions:

  • Some Chrome extensions might interfere with printing. Try disabling them one by one to see if it resolves the issue.
  • Go to Chrome menu > Extensions and toggle each extension off.

Print from System Dialog:

  • Sometimes printing via the System Dialog can bypass browser-specific issues.
  • Use shortcut Ctrl + Shift + P after selecting Print, which opens the system dialog for printing.

I hope this helps.

Can it be a port issue? I just got a new router and before that I was able to print and scan but now I can't do either one. I've tried all those things and nothing works

When I go to reinstall the driver, the automatic scan cannot find the printer, I have to manually input the IP address

Hey @Dpparker,

Thank you for your response

Check if Printer is on 2.4 GHz Network
Make sure your printer is connected to the 2.4 GHz band on your router (not 5 GHz)/

Check for Filters on Router
Some routers have filters or restrictions for devices on the network. Make sure there are no filters that might be blocking the printer.

Assign a Static IP to the Printer
It’s a good idea to assign a static IP address to your printer so that it always uses the same IP. You can do this through the router's settings. After that, try adding the printer again and see if the issue persists.

Let me know how it goes.
