System Main Failed!

Recently purchased 22 HP MFP x57945z which are configured for badge printing. 9 of these printers occasionally receive this error on LCD " System Main Failed! To continue, turn product off and on " there is also a reset button the LCD which is unresponsive. You would need to hard power cycle the unit to get it operational . The error occur when the printer is idle.

Any one seen this error ?  Or knows of a corrective action ?

I have check configuration pages from printers of the same model whose not experiencing the issue with ones who are getting the issue . All firmware looks the same.

System main fail is somewhat the replacement for the old 49 error and sadly as you have found out, no more useful. The first thing I would do would be to make sure the firimware is up to date,  5.7 is the current revision and there are a LOT of fixes in that revision.

I checked for service documentation. States that you may need to perform a partial clean on the device and reconfigure. Pain in the butt I know, if configuration is the same for all devices, use WebJetAdmin and pull a template off a working device to save time when re configuring.

I did upgrade the firmware to 5.7 and intermittently would still see the error system main fail. Then about two weeks later firmware 5.7.1.1 came out. Upgraded to 5.7.1.1 and we still saw the error. The error is random, it rarely fails when a client is printing from the unit. Typically fails when sitting at rest. I did try a partial clean on a device and reconfigured the printer. Occasionally still getting system main fail. When the device frozen and when they get the system main fail, you can still ping the printer OK , but when trying to connect with the web interface it comes up Device not attached, and just see the home, device and network tabs. Wondering if other users have seen the "system main fail, power off and on to continue.
