I was sitting at my desk earlier and suddenly heard from my printer the sounds that it makes when I choose menu options on the touch display. I looked and indeed the menu was moving by itself to the page setup menu and going through various options. I pressed home and reset, but a few minutes later the same happened again, this time the menu moving by itself to the address book. Could this happen when someone hacked the printer? I have now disabled WiFi Direct, and Wifi network, and only keep the printer connected to my wired home network, so far this phenomenon has stopped.

It is possible that someone hacked, I did not know that they had remote control panel on this model, to date I have only seen it on the Enterprise level products. It is also possible that you are getting interference although your description of the movement does not sound random at all. For wireless direct, were you using the default password or did you assign your own?

Thanks for your response. 1/ It’s not a remote panel, just the standard touch panel attached to the printer. 2/ Wireless Direct was still on default settings. I never used it, just failed to change it/ switch it off

Just to clarify if others read this, when I said remote control panel, that is a feature whereby an administrator, logged into the printer, can access the control panel electronically and it appears that a ghost is operating the control panel. It is a useful tool for  training remote users, but again, I am not sure that this model has that feature.
