Hi,
I want to buy a new HP printer. The HP ENVY 5540. When I read the specs. I saw it has only 2 cartridges. One for the black ink and one for the three colors.
My question is, why is it that those three colors are in one cartridge? What do you have to do when for example the magenta color is empty and the other two colors are not... then you have to buy a whole new one just for the magenta?
Sorry if there is already a same topic in this forum, but I could not find an answer.
Thank you in advance
Cynni

Hi,
For normal printing, the tricolour cartridge should reduce all colours at roughly the same rate, however if you are printing something repeatedly with one dominant colour, then it might be advisable to choose a printer with individual ink carts for each colour.
