This printer is automaticaly cleaning my printheads on a daily basis.  This is causing a build up on the cleaning pads and ink build up all over the print head area of the printer.  This is causing fouled printing as I am getting ink smearing  all over my print jobs.  How can I turn this feature off.  I can when needed, clean the heads utilizing the toolbox or manualy cleaning the heads as needed.  I am a certified tier 5 customer support person and also certified to repair HP printers, however I have not found any forum questions or replies regarding this issue.

@Holoco

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

As I Understand the print head is cleaning on its own and creating print quality issues among others,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Correct me If I'm wrong, but isn't that an HP Officejet 8000 pro? you've mentioned Deskjet 8000 pro (we don't have any such models)

That said, did you know that printers are designed to clean the printhead on a daily basis to ensure the ink isn't being clogged and printhead works longer that way?

I must also let you know that there are no options of turning this off as it's manufactured to do the same, although, considering the smearing ink and print quality issues, I recommend you follow the steps mentioned in this article: Click here for details.

If you have Poor Print Quality Immediately after Setup, an Extended Idle Period, or after Printhead Replacement:

Click here for details.

Let me know how that pans out

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask any other queries as  well,

Considering, this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

My bad, you are correct this is an "Officejet Pro 8000 Windows" .  Also when I went to manualy clean the printheads, I observed massive amounts of ink all over the hardware directly below the parked position of the heads.  This ink is getting on the printheads and being smeared across the pages as I try to print.

@Holoco

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

I understand your concern, however, as I mentioned this is by design and there's nothing that can be done to turn off the auto-clean feature, that said, did you follow the articles I had suggested earlier to resolve print quality issues?

If yes, does the issue occur while printing a diagnostic page as well?

If it does, I recommend you Contact HP to have the printhead replaced:

All of the suggestions in your response did not address the issue at hand concerning the excessive build up of ink in the area of the print head cleaning area.   Due to the daily automatic cleaning of the heads, there is now an excesive build up in the cleaning area and all over the printer hardware and frame in that area.  I did check out the ink tubes to ensure that none were kinked or leaking.  I did manualy clean the immediate area and the heads and this resulted in a clean crisp print job one time only.   Thanks for your attempt to assist in clearing up this issue however there is apparently a deeper issue than the generic checks you sent.

As mentioned previously, this is a hardware malfunction and it's best you Contact HP to have it repaired/replaced,

The articles and suggestions sent were not generic, it was specific to your model, that said, there's only so much we can do unlike the magicians with their magic wands, though I wish I had one to cure your PC, sadly I don't and recommend you Contact HP and have it fixed.
