Recently I have had an issue when I am going to print a document. It defaults to the fax. I have never used the fax so can't understand why this would be happening. It has always defaulted to HP Photosmart 7520 series. How do I get the default back?
Next issue: I want to scan a picture and save it to the computer. I choose the "computer" It attempts to scan and comes up with this error: "no connection No computer is connected. See printer help and documentation to troubleshoot the connection" Sometimes there is a popup on the computer screen that says to choose my photo program but most of the time I just get the error message on the printer screen.

This is getting crazy. This morning it is not allowing me to do anything unless I go into the printer assistant and click the "scan a document or photo". This time it goes to the "select a shortcut, etc". I then click the choices I want and then it scans and asks me save it. I am able to direct it to the exact location I want the picture to go (my picture library).
I think I am going to have to do the work around like this. At least I am now able.
I will hit the "accept, etc" and sign off. Thanks for all your help.

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP forum. Please follow these steps to resolve your issues.
Issue 1: Set as Default printer :
1. Go to Control Panel > Device and Printers and Right click on your printer
2. Set to Default and make sure you select the non FAX printer!
Example is shown below:
Issue 2 : Scan to Computer
Can you download and install the FULL feature printer software from HP for your operating system:
Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.
How to Scan to Computer
Once you have installed the software:
1. Click on the printer Icon (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
2. Under the Scan menu, there is a “Manage Scan to Computer”, click on that.
3. Make sure that you “Enable” Scan to Computer. Also make sure the tab “Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log on to Windows” is checked if you want to make this feature permanent. (the following video will show you how)

Okay, I was able to set the default printer part.
I did this part also:

Hi,
If you have installed your printer's FULL feature software successfully, there should be an icon on the desktop.
Were there any errors in the installation?
Thanks.

Hi,
Assuming that you have installed the FULL feature software, go to:
1. Start > HP > HP Photosmart 7520
2. Click on HP Photosmart 7520
This should bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
Follow the steps to enable "Scan to Computer"
(If you have not installed the FULL feature software, please download and install it)
Thanks,

What would happen if I delete all the HP:
HP update 8/6/2015
HP Photo Smart 7520 series Basic Device Software
HP Photo Smart 7520 series help
HP Photo Creations
I do have the original disk - version 28.8
I purchase this computer in May of 2015. Windows 7 was the original. Later when the Windows 10 was ready for the free download I decided to download. What a mistake. I got rid of it and went back to the Windows 7. Is it possible that the software is still in Windows 10 mode or doesn't that make a differenc? It is just strange
Should I also delete the two downloads from last night?

Hi,
You can delete all the HP Software and then start to install again.
It has worked for others.
Hope that helps.

Praying that this works. So anything that says HP (I don't have a HP computer) including HP Support solutions Framework, HP Suport Assistant, and all the ones that I posted before? I will do all of these and pray for the best.
Will let you know if this works.
