ENVY 4512
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Even after reinstalling my printer and getting HP updates, I am unable to print PDF documents. The print screen shows this message: "Your printer experienced an unexpected configuration problem. 0x8007007e" I first noticed this problem several days after updates from Microsoft were installed.

Try these steps to restart the print spooler -

1) Turn off the printer using the power button.
2) Search Windows for run, and click the Run Windows application in the list of results.
3) Type services.msc in the Run window, and then press Enter on the keyboard.
The Services menu opens.
4) Right-click Print Spooler and select Stop.

5) After the service has been stopped, close the service window and use Windows Explorer to browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS.
6) Delete all files inside the PRINTERS folder.
7) Restart your computer.
8) Turn on your printer.

You may also try step# 3 and 5 from here.

Thank you, asmita6658, for trying to help me resolve the problem of not being able to print PDFs. As it turns it, PDFs aren't the only documents that won't print on my HP ENVY 4512; only Word documents will print. I have not tried to print from other Microsoft applications such as Excel.

I was able to get through Step 8 of your instructions below but then received this message:

The following package(s) can not be deleted:
hpygid20.inf (x64)
This package contains the following driver(s) that are in use:
HP ENVY 4510 series; This driver is used on:
HP ENVY 4510 series (Network)

The following driver(s) can not be deleted:
Driver HP ENVY 4510 series (x64) is in use. It is used on:
HP ENVY 4510 series (Network)

I tried removing first the printer, then the printer and package, but without success. Ideas?

Thanks!

Thank you, Asmita, for trying to help. I got through #9 in Step 2, but the computer would not allow me to go any further. Here is the message I received:

The following package(s) can not be deleted:
hpygid20.inf (x64)
This package contains the following driver(s) that are in use:
HP ENVY 4510 series; This driver is used on:

The following driver(s) can not be deleted:
Driver HP ENVY 4510 series (x64) is in use. It is used on:
HP ENVY 4510 series (Network)

It appears now that the only documents I can print are those in Word. I have not tried to print from other Microsoft applications such as Excel.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Asmita, the suggestions this time worked. After following the steps you outlined, I was then able to complete the original steps and download the software needed for the printer to print again. It now prints PDFs just fine. Thank you much!

I need to clarify my post from a few minutes ago: If I am working from my computer, I cannot print from Outlook or from websites. However, if I am working from my Smartphone, I can print from Outlook and from websites.

Hi @Falcon12

Are you able to print the documents that are directly saved on the computer's hard drive?

Also, run the HP Print and Scan Doctor

Let me know.
