I've always had good page usage but I have had to change my ink cartridges or at least start getting low ink messages after about 50 pages. These are average letter documents without much print on them at all. Generally next to no color, just black print most times. I use the official HP cartridges! Why all of a sudden am I getting terrible performance?

I have same problem. Don't print much at all. Just installed new HP ink in OfficeJet 6970 2-3 weeks ago. No full-page documents printed; just a few recipes, receipts, etc. - all in grayscale. Color cartridges are over half empty. Extremely, frustrating, expensive & incomprehensible. Help anyone?

Follow-up to clarify my previous post relative to other comments on this topic.
The HP ink cartridge performance is worse than disappointing. It seems to evaporate! II print very little & almost always on draft mode in grayscale. But ink usage is as though I was printing full-color photos or PPT slides with background color.
I agree with the comment about HP selling partially filled cartridges. It's obvious by the printer price that all the profit is in ink, but this is ridiculous. I've been a loyal HP user for 25 years with multiple purchases. I guess I'm a slow learner; it's time to switch brands.
I'd love to get a useful response from an expert, providing a practical solution. Please.
