We tried to print a page off my desktop. It is wireless. The printer wouldn't print and had an error message that the paper was mismatched. We are using the same paper as always. It spit out a blank page and then showed the same message. We tried resetting the printer and also cleaned the rollers. We can make a copy by placing paper in the top tray. It pulls paper from the main tray with no error message and prints fine. After that worked, we tried again to print a document straight from the computer. We received the same error message, mismatched paper. HP Smart also says mismatched paper. Our printer is a few years old, maybe it's just done? Any advice would be appreciated. We don't know a lot about computers, so please explain in detail.

Thank you

Thank you for responding. Our printer is the HP Envy 6400 series.

If we put a page to copy in the document feeder, the thing on top, it prints just fine. But when we try to print from the computer, it says, "Error, mismatched paper." We bought an Epson printer to try it out. We can print fine from the computer with it.

Hi @Elizabead,

Thank you for the response.

Try these steps:

Check Paper Size Settings:

  • Ensure that the paper size setting in the print driver matches the size of the paper loaded in the printer's input tray. You can check and adjust these settings through the print dialog in the application you are printing from.

Verify Printer Settings:

  • On your printer, navigate to the settings menu using the control panel and verify that the paper size settings match the actual size of the paper loaded.

Update Printer Software:

  • Make sure that your printer software and drivers are up to date. You can download and install the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

Clear Print Spooler:

  • Sometimes clearing the print spooler can resolve printing errors:
    • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners in Windows 11.
    • Select your HP printer, click Manage, and then Open queue.
    • Cancel all documents.
    • Search for Services in the Windows search bar, and open the app.
    • Find Print Spooler, right-click, and select Restart.

Check Paper Tray Alignment:

  • Ensure that the paper is properly aligned in the input tray and that any paper guides are correctly adjusted to fit the paper size.

Manually Set Paper Type and Size:

  • Adjust paper settings manually before printing:
    • Open the application you're using to print.
    • Select Print, and then Properties or Preferences.
    • Set the correct paper size in the Paper or Paper/Quality tab.

Perform Printer Reset:

  • Unplug the printer from power and disconnect any connected cables for about 60 seconds. Plug the printer back in and reconnect it to see if the issue resolves.

I hope this helps.
