When printing an image I am getting vertical lines from top to bottom spaced about a half inch apart.  This occurs both from my desktop computer which is direct wired and from any wireless device. I have all new ink cartridges. This problem started prior to the new ink being installed. The print test page looks perfect. I tried running the cleaning tools in the printer software but it made no difference. What am I missing?Actual printed imageActual printed image

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand, you're getting vertical lines while printing,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Do you see the vertical lines while printing a document or only in pictures?

Have you tried printing from a different application?

Does this happen on a photocopy?

When was the last time it worked fine?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps to resolve the issue: Click here

Step 1: Use genuine HP cartridges

Step 3: Make sure you are using the appropriate paper for your print job

Step 4: Check the print settings

Step 5: Check the estimated ink levels

Step 6: Replace any low or empty cartridges

Step 7: Make sure the ink cartridges are properly vented and seated correctly

Step 8: Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page

Step 10: Align the printhead

Step 13: Clean the printhead

Step 14: Print another Print Quality Diagnostic Page

Keep me posted,

Cheers!

Thank you for your response Flower_Bud. I only get the vertical lines while printing pictures. Images are lines and streaky on all applications. Images are also streaky when copying (photocopy). The last time my printer worked properly was about 4 months ago.

In reference to the 14 steps that you listed,

Step 1: I am enrolled in HP Instant Ink and use only the HP cartridges that I am sent.

Step 2: This wasn't included in your response.

Step 3: I am using the appropriate paper for my print job.

Step 4: I have checked my print settings.

Step 5: I installed all new ink cartridges which made no difference.

Step 6: See step 5.

Step 7: Are print cartridges are properly vented and seated.

Step 8: The Print Quality Diagnostics Page looks fine.

Step 9 : Not included.

Step 10: I performed the Alignment of the printhead.

Step 11: Not included.

Step 12: Not included.

Step 13: I cleaned the printhead.

Step 14: I printed another Print Quality Diagnostics Page and it looks the same as the previous one.

Prior to this issue with printing pictures, I was very satisfied with this printer. It printed supberb pictures. Any other ideas are welcome. I may be still able to have this repaired or replaced under warranty. I will check on my purchase date.

It took a little bit but I finally received a solution to my issue. Apparently there was no user fix . Thanks to "Flower_Bud" and "JeffHelp" who are support agents for HP my issue was forwarded to Jerry at HP. Jerry offered a solution of replacing my printer with a Certified Refurbished printer. I gladly accepted the offer and had my replacement in a few days.

I am now happy to report that my images are back to being perfect! Thanks to the HP Support Forum I was put in touch with the right person. What an awesome company HP is. They definately stand behind their product 100% even if the warranty is expired. I am a lifetime customer!
