I have an HP Laser Jet Pro MFP M127fw. It's hooked up remotely. Every time I want to print, I have to restart the printer. What am I doing wrong or need to correct?

HI @DKWasHere,

I don't imagine you are doing anything wrong. Based on your description, it sounds to me like an issue with the printer hardware, or firmware, or a disconnect with the connection type.

Let's first check to see if your printer requires the firmware update.

Details

This utility will provide the latest firmware for your HP LaserJet printer. It requires the following:

  • A copy of the HP LaserJet Full Software and Drivers must be installed on the computer used for the firmware update. This software may be found on the same hp.com driver download support page as the firmware download. Some of the files installed with the HP LaserJet Full Software and Drivers are used by the Firmware Updater utility.
  • Use the same connection method, USB, networked, or wireless, that you use to print with.

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Download the firmware update utility file to your desktop. Double click on the file.
  2. Click the Update button.
  3. Select the printer you want to update from the list.
  4. Click the Update button in the dialog window. Follow the on-screen instructions to continue with the upgrade.
  5. Do NOT power cycle the printer or the PC during this process or the printer may become unstable and/or unusable without further attention from HP. The firmware update can take several minutes to complete. Please be patient.
  6. To verify the update, a configuration page can be printed. The configuration page will display the current firmware revision in the product information section.

Note: If the firmware is already up-to-date, the firmware will not altered. Otherwise, the utility will display a dialog box at the conclusion of the successful device update.

Version 20150228

Fix and enhancements

  • Fixed an issue with Fax Setup wizard disappearing when the Fax icon is touched on the printer control panel after NVRAM resets.
  • Fixed a display issue with some Non-English languages where incorrect strings could show on the help screen from the printer control panel when receiving a fax with a communication error.

If you have your printer setup wirelessly, it is entirely possible the issue is related to the connection in which case the following document might be most helpful to you: HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw Printer and HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw and M128fw Printers - Printe...

Please let me know the outcome of your efforts and we can proceed from there. Thank you.

Why aren't the links working?  Is it because the solution is a little old?
