My HP Officejet 5743 shows up as the default printer. Also appearing is HP649F6A (HP Officejet 5740 series). Why does it show up twice with separate nomenclatures? Will it affect anything if I remove it?

Hi @Metal1,
Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums with your inquiry.
I understand that you are using an HP Officejet 5743 e-All-in-One Printer with a Windows 10 PC and he printer is showing up twice in the Devices and Printers folder in Windows, with slightly different names. I would like to help with that.
I was looking into this and found that there was solution found, related to the Wireless Direct signal possibly being picked up by your PC if Wireless Direct on the printer is 'On'. Check the post with the reply from @vthapa by clicking here.

Thanks for the reply. I deleted both printers and found the Wi-Fi Diriect area on the printer, so was able to add back as a Wi-Fi direct printer. It works now now on Wi-Fi Direct (however it takes a minute or more to load). I suppose I can also add the printer back as a network printer if desired. Your explanation helped and I think my basic understanding has improved! THANKS
