I am having a minor and a major problem with attaching an encoder strip.
Firstly, is the smiley face supposed to be on the left, upright and with the printing back to front (meaning it reads from the REAR) please? that is how it came out of this printer. But it seems t be the reverse of the way the strip attaches on another printer you describe on these pages? (that was 7 series? )
Secondly, how is the tab orientated on the left bracket please? Does the strip go straight on like the right hand one? (Or does the strip rotate 90 degree to go on the tab and then rotate back again once the tab has 'caught'? is there a photo of the left bracket please?

Hi @licensedtoquill,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to assist you.
I see that there is an issue with the printer hardware and may need repair.
The support here is limited and this issue might require one-on-one interaction to fix it.

No, there wasn't any message there. Is it just a matter of having someone else push the right hand bracket while I try looping the hole in the encoder strip over the metal upright 'peg' until I get it right?
And I assume upright smiley face on left is OK with lettering/numbering reading from behind?

Sorry, there IS a message for me there on this. I says 'Beware of fake HP Support' I THINK IT MEANS: I AM ASKING ABOUT HOW TO CARRY THROUGH A PARTICULAR REPAIR, while the supposed HP rep is showing me he has just about identified that there may be a need for a repair here!!
